Our 1st Initiative – Stationery Drive
The stationery drive initiative is a project where we are looking to collect stationery items to distribute to less fortunate children at 7 primary schools in Sierra Leone and 1 in Gambia.
Our first stationery project was launched in September 2009. We successfully donated many stationery items and reading books to two schools in Freetown Sierra Leone. We travelled to both schools to personally distribute the generous donations we received.
The first school was Lisam Preparatory School with 210 students and Bavia Primary School with 130 students was the other.
Every student received a bag full of stationery and in addition, each school received a donation of 1000 reading books to encourage them to introduce reading time into their day-to-day school activities.
We can happily report that the reading books have been used effectively – as the Bavia School’s 2009 Christmas play was based on one of the reading books!
A BIG THANK YOU
